Ready, Set, Read!

Thursday, March 2nd, 2023 marked Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Day! Many know Dr. Seuss for his inspirational children’s books complete with imaginative characters, adventures and rhymes. With beginner level grammar and repetitive vocabulary, Dr Seuss’ books make for a great introduction to the world of reading.

Here at Walters Apartments, we celebrated with our residents by drawing and writing stories about what reading and Dr. Seuss means to us. Some of our oldest residents, picked up their crayons and recalled their favorite lines and lessons from Dr Seuss’ stories and our youngest residents drew their favorite characters and book covers! Prizes such as Dr. Seuss drawstring backpacks, book marks, stress balls, card games and frisbees were given out to our residents who were the most creative.

It was a wonderfully creative day of celebrating Dr. Seuss and encouraging those of all ages to make time for reading. Remember, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss
