Better Built
Modern, Bright, Built Right
Building Practices & Process
At Walters, our development, construction and property management teams work together from the site selection and funding identification stages, through approvals and construction, to managing communities once they’re ready to welcome residents home.
We take pride in ensuring that every community we build reflects the highest level of quality in the industry.
Our difference lies in accountability. Accountability is an essential face of how we operate, regularly seeking input from residents and stakeholders, using their feedback to strengthen both our building practices and our communities.

Architectural & Design
Working closely with our trusted architectural partners helps us design communities that incorporate quality and innovation.
We take a thoughtful approach to designing each project to ensure that the communities we build use high-quality materials while minimizing waste and maximizing resident comfort. We learn from each project and use the knowledge we acquire to inform future design decisions, enabling us to adapt as technology advances and markets shift.
By fostering strong relationships with our architects, we create spaces that ensures every detail, from blueprints to finishes, reflect a space that our residents are proud to call home.

Obstacles into Opportunity
Walters specializes in overcoming the challenges associated with environmentally constrained sites and are experts not only in land entitlement, but also in securing municipal partners who care about our future residents as much as we do.
From unlocking creative funding solutions to activating previously unbuildable land through remediation in collaboration with a variety of public and private partners, we overcome challenges with resilience.
Because our teams are closely integrated, when obstacles like the COVID-19 pandemic strike, it enables us to adapt and overcome with ease, ensuring we remain unwavering in our commitment to building industry-leading affordable housing throughout New Jersey.

Sourcing & Sustainability
All of our communities have achieved LEED Gold or higher and we intend to keep it that way. One of our early projects, Stafford Park Apartments, in 2012 was New Jersey’s first LEED Gold certified affordable housing community. Our projects are no stranger earning industry accolades, Cornerstone at Waretown won USGBC-NJ’s LEED Project of the Year in their Residential Multifamily category. Some of the communities across our portfolio have even achieved LEED Platinum certification.
Over our many decades of experience, we have built relationships with a stellar team of environmental professionals who help us to stay on top of sustainable technology and materials and continually advance the quality and environmental friendliness of our developments.
From using responsibly sourced materials, adding supplemental ventilation to our buildings and minimizing wasted energy through energy efficient HVAC systems, we design each community we build with the long-term health of our residents and our planet in mind.
